We are a dynamic community of scholars, educators, practitioners and students, committed to empowering individuals to lead the lives they choose. Our faculty and students explore the intersection of health, disability, prevention and rehabilitation through diverse research across the college. Faculty members explore such concerns as stroke rehabilitation, fall prevention, educational approaches for minority students with disabilities, and support systems for African American women with cancer. Your donation empowers us to empower others.

We apply our research directly to the communities we serve—across Chicagoland, the nation and in 24 countries around the world. Our faculty and students provide free physical education at Chicago Public Schools, offer physical and occupational therapy to impoverished populations in Peru, and use our mobile Assistive Technology Unit to evaluate homes of disabled Chicagoans and improve quality of life. Our broad-based research contributes new knowledge, therapies and interventions that directly improve individual well-being and impact the delivery of healthcare. There are a number of flexible ways in which you can support our mission. Through annual giving, endowed gifts and deferred giving, we are excited to partner with you.

Annual gifts offer immediate support for a wide range of initiatives such as scholarships, student travel to professional conferences, graduate student research projects, special lectures and seminars, and much more. Gifts are usually used during the year in which they are received, making an instant impact on the lives of students and faculty. Membership in our Founders Circle annual giving society recognizes donors who make annual gifts of $500 or more.

Endowments are perhaps the most influential investments in higher education, creating self-renewing, living legacies that span generations. In an endowment fund, the principal is invested in perpetuity and only a portion of the investment’s earnings is spent. The rest of the earnings are channeled back into the fund, so the endowment grows over time. Funds can be established with a minimum gift of $25,000, paid in a lump sum or over a multi-year period. When you create an endowed fund, it is established in your name or the name of a person or organization you wish to honor.

Many individuals want to make a meaningful difference by supporting the college, but find it difficult during their lifetime. You can make an impact in the future by including the UIC College of Applied Health Sciences in your estate plan, by funding a charitable gift annuity, or by choosing another deferred giving option. A deferred gift to the college is a long-term and long-lasting investment in the future. Membership in our Legacy Society recognizes donors who make a deferred gift to the college.
