Jessie Chin

Jessie is a research assistant professor at the Department of Biomedical and Health Information Sciences (BHIS) at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Jessie has conducted interdisciplinary research in cognitive science, human-computer interaction and human factors, with a focus on human-information interaction across the lifespan. The major theme of her research is to examine how an individual adapts to information environments through various self-regulated processes, such as information search, reading and learning. She is especially interested in how older adults interact with various information technologies to gather, understand and use health information to promote their health.

Jessie completed her PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 2015. She had worked in the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology with Prof. Dan Morrow and Prof. Elizabeth Stine-Morrow in Educational Psychology and Prof. Wai-Tat Fu in Computer Science. In her postdoctoral research, she worked with Prof. Catherine Burns in Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo in Canada. She rejoined the University of Illinois as a faculty member in 2017.
