Liza originally started at SUNY Purchase College as a Drawing and Painting major. However, after two years she realized that a career in the fine arts wasn’t for her, and she switched to studying Psychology with a minor in Biology and a concentration in Cognitive Neuroscience. She loved science, but missed creating things. After graduating, instead of applying to PhD programs as she had planned, she researched medical illustration and realized it was perfect for her.
So far Liza has been delighted with everything she’s learned as a BVIS student, and her favorite project was the introduction to Unity and C# programming. She is starting to focus on creating interactive applications and games, which present fascinating challenges — not only in learning the techniques to make them, but also in understanding how they can effectively be used to help people learn.
In the future, Liza hopes to be able to work with virtual reality and haptics as well as computer and mobile applications. She plans on using emerging technology to make scientific concepts accessible to people at every level of education.
