Elizabeth Moss was born in Nashville and moved to Chicago for her BFA in Illustration at Columbia College Chicago. She was always pleased to learn about science, especially biology, and enjoyed finding ways to incorporate science into her art. While getting her art degree, she became interested in doing an independent research project centering around the antibiotic resistance to triclosan, a project she worked on for three and a half years and also presented at Argonne Laboratory in 2013. This project and others quickly solidified her desire to fully combine her love for art and biology.
Within the field of biology, human anatomy, especially the immune system and epidemiology, has always been a large interest, though she can usually find something interesting within any subject she researches. While primarily a two-dimensional traditional artist, working with ink, marker, watercolor, etc, Elizabeth also enjoys digital illustration and is hoping to make progress in learning 3D modeling. Her goal for the future is to build and improve upon these skills while in graduate school so that they will aid her in creating informational imagery that portrays complex information in the easiest, most helpful way possible.
Elizabeth hopes to someday be able to create images for publication, whether it be textbook diagrams, images for scientific journals, or any others. She also has an interest in doing sequential illustration, and doing storyboards and conceptual art for animated works.
