Talia Weiss

Originally a Pacific Northwesterner from Bainbridge Island, Washington, Talia received a BA from Dartmouth College in Neuroscience with a Digital Arts minor. After graduation, Talia moved to New York City where she worked at a life sciences consulting firm. Here she realized the need for innovative scientific communicators. Deciding to combine her love of the sciences and digital technology, Talia entered the UIC Biomedical Visualization Program in 2016.

Talia is most interested in studying digital technologies, including animation, interactive media, virtual reality and haptics. She hopes to apply these innovative techniques to improve patient education and health outcomes, particularly in the fields of psychology and neuroscience. Talia is looking forward to her animation and neuroanatomy courses and is working to pursue project research in these fields.

Upon graduation from BVIS, Talia intends to work within a research institution or healthcare setting to enhance patient education. Ultimately, she hopes to go beyond harnessing today’s educational scientific visualization techniques and help to pioneer a new age in visualization technology by working alongside thought leaders and researchers to create technologies that will fundamentally alter the way we approach scientific education.
