Dani Bergey

Dani grew up in the Black Hills of South Dakota and received a B.S. in Cell Biology & Neuroscience from Montana State University. After graduating, she worked in a biomedical research lab in Seattle and studied neurogenic disease. During her time there, she became inspired by the use of art to visualize ideas in biology and decided to pursue a career that blends a number of her lifelong interests.

Currently in her first year, Dani is surveying the variety of techniques that are used in medical illustration. She is particularly interested in learning about 3D modeling and animation and how they can be used to communicate cellular and molecular processes. In addition, she is excited to explore patient education opportunities for diseases such as Huntington’s and Parkinson’s disease.

In the future, Dani hopes to work closely with scientists and data visualization experts to convey and explore new ideas in modern biology research. She specifically sees a space for biomedical illustrators to communicate topics in genomics and systems biology.
