Originally from northern Virginia, Sarah received her Bachelor of Arts in biology and studio art with a concentration in printmaking from the University of Virginia. She gravitated toward art from a young age, but later found a love of biology and life sciences under the care of an incredible high school teacher. During a chance conversation with a professor at UVA, she was introduced to medical illustration and was naturally attracted to the field’s unique blend of art and science.
Currently, Sarah is looking forward to gaining skills in animation, VR, and AR as the application of these technologies expands beyond entertainment and into the medical and scientific spheres.
Sarah hopes to use her new expertise and the resources of the Biomedical Visualization program to continue her interest in enhancing pediatric patient education and bringing greater scientific literacy to traditionally underserved communities in order to improve patient outcomes.
