About
Carol J. Gill, PhD. is a professor in the Department of Disability and Human Development at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She teaches in the interdisciplinary PhD Program in Disability Studies and directs the UIC campus certificate Program in Disability Ethics. Her formal training is in clinical and developmental psychology with a focus on health and disability. Dr. Gill’s research interests have included disability identity development, health service experiences of women with disabilities, disability bioethical issues, and professional training. She has served as principal investigator of multi-year research projects funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, Centers for Disease Control, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Ethical, Legal, and Social Issues (ELSI) program of the National Institutes of Health. She is currently collaborating with Health and Disability Advocates on a project, funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research (PCORI) Institute, to increase the capacity of people with disabilities to be engaged in research.
