Kiyoshi Yamaki

My research focuses on the health of persons with disability from public health and disability studies perspectives. Persons with disability can sustain healthy and productive life despite of their functional limitations. Health disparities currently existing between persons with and without disability is largely a product of social, physical and attitudinal barriers surrounding persons with disability, such as lack of access to health services and misconception on the side of health service providers. Through my work, I have been looking into impacts of various barriers on the health outcomes of persons with disabilities.
