About
Shayna Oshita, PhD RD LDN CDE is a visiting clinical assistant professor within the Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Oshita received her bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2001. Following this, she attained a doctorate degree in molecular and cellular biology from Northwestern University in 2007. She then completed a master’s degree in nutrition at University of Illinois at Chicago in 2009.
After leaving UIC, Dr. Oshita worked at Sinai Health System on Chicago’s west side providing patient education specializing in nutrition and diabetes self-management. Over the years, she progressed to become the interim director of diabetes services at Sinai Health System. Dr. Oshita has now returned to UIC to develop an outpatient education and training program for students pursuing degrees in nutrition as well as provide nutrition and diabetes self-management education to its patients and caregivers. Dr. Oshita is a Registered Dietitian and a Certified Diabetes Educator.
