About
Dr. Urao completed his MD degree along with a PhD degree in Cardiovascular Regenerative Medicine at the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine in 2006. He then came to Emory University and University of Illinois at Chicago for his Postdoctral training. In 2012 he became a faculty member in the Department of Pharmacology and joined as a Research Assistant Professor in the Kinesiology and Nutrition, affiliated with the Center for Wound Healing and Tissue Regeneration.
As a research scientist with clinical experience in internal medicine and cardiology, he has chosen to focus on gaining knowledge on ischemic organ injury. His area of focus is to understand tissue regeneration after ischemic damage and the long-term impacts of obesity/diabetes on the immune system.
