Shane A. Phillips PT, PhD, FAHA is Professor and Associate Head in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Phillips has clinical expertise in physical therapy and cardiovascular rehabilitation. His PhD degree in physiology was completed at the Medical College of Wisconsin, he completed post-doctoral training in Cardiovascular Medicine. He is Director of the Vascular Biology Laboratory in the College of Applied Health Sciences where he studies obesity, hypertension, and the control of blood flow and responses of the microcirculation to surgery, diet and exercise interventions. Other research interests include the impact of cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, alcohol and high cholesterol on macro and microcirculatory function. His laboratory is funded by the National Institute of Health.
